This chartbook examines the impact of chronic conditions on individuals and their caregivers, as well as on the U.S. health care system. The number of people with chronic conditions is rapidly increasing. Arthritis is one of the leading chronic conditions among people age 65 and older. Almost 3 out of 4 people age 65 and older have multiple chronic conditions. One-fifth of individuals with chronic illness also have activity limitations. Health care spending often doubles for people with chronic illness and activity limitations.
The Regional Arthritis Centers (RAC) strive to reduce the burden of arthritis and related conditions in Missouri through evidence-based physical activity and self-management programs. You can make a difference. Contact your local RAC to find a class near year or learn about upcoming training opportunities.
